Het begon allemaal in 2017 toen een paar dappere zielen van ons kantoor besloten om mee te doen aan de 100 KM fietstocht om geld en bewustzijn in te zamelen voor de strijd tegen kanker.<\/p>\n<p>Wat volgt is een kort interview met Menno Niehe, Managing Director van ITW Contamination Control EMEA, over dit eerste avontuur en hoe onze deelname groeide door de jaren heen.<\/p>\n<p><em><br \/>\nWat was voor jou en de rest van het team de reden om deel te nemen aan deze 2017 editie van de Ride for the Roses?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Menno:<\/span> \"Ik had priv\u00e9 al een paar keer meegedaan aan de Ride, eerst als uitdaging met een vriend in 2011, en later meer betrokken geraakt bij de onderzoeksonderwerpen van de Ride doordat een paar mensen in mijn omgeving in aanraking kwamen met kanker.\"<\/p>\n<p>Toen in 2017 de Ride in de buurt van ons kantoor zou plaatsvinden, kon ik een paar anderen van het bedrijf overtuigen om mee te doen, hoewel iedereen zich toen nog als individu inschreef.\"<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.itw-cc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/itwcc-ride-for-the-roses-2017.jpg\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>Het 1e team van ITW Contamination Control in 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><br \/>\nHoe is dit dan ge\u00ebvolueerd naar de grote deelname die je de laatste jaren hebt gezien?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Menno:<\/span> \"Nou, na deze editie in 2017 hebben we ons als bedrijf niet veel meer met de Ride beziggehouden, totdat we in 2023 een paar nieuwere collega's hadden die met mij aan de praat raakten over de Ride en hoe leuk het zou zijn om hier weer aan mee te doen met een groep uit het bedrijf.<\/p>\n<p>Dit mondde vervolgens uit in het werven van deelnemers, niet alleen voor de 100 KM rit, maar ook voor de 50 en 25 KM ritten om ook de collega's tegemoet te komen die niet noodzakelijkerwijs ervaren fietsers waren. De beslissing was snel genomen om een officieel bedrijfsteam samen te stellen bestaande uit collega's en een paar dierbaren, inclusief het maken van bedrijfskleding voor alle deelnemers.<\/p>\n<p>Dit is vervolgens blijven groeien van 12 deelnemers in 2023 tot nu meer dan 30 in de komende editie van 2025.\"<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.itw-cc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/SGGM8929-1.jpg\" \/><em><strong>Het team in 2024<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><br \/>\nWat is volgens jou de reden dat er zoveel extra mensen bij het team zijn gekomen in vergelijking met 2017?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Menno:<\/span> \"De recente toevoeging van de Walk for the Roses, die pas in 2024 van start is gegaan en deelnemers de optie geeft om 15 KM te lopen in plaats van te fietsen, heeft een grote positieve invloed gehad op het aantal mensen dat meedoet en waarvan we zagen dat het voor sommigen een obstakel was. Dit is in aanvulling op ons, als bedrijf, die onze teamleden helpen met het verstrekken van kleding, het maken van \"Fund me\" berichten om te delen en het aanbieden van trainingsschema's voor ge\u00efnteresseerde deelnemers verlaagt de lat om mee te doen. We zijn begonnen met een kleine vriendschappelijke wedstrijd om te zien wie het meeste geld ophaalt, maar nu is het een gezamenlijke inspanning om dit geweldige doel zoveel mogelijk te helpen als bedrijf.\"<\/p>\n<p><em><br \/>\nWat zijn, naast het steunen van een goed doel, de extra waarden die een evenement als Ride for the Roses met zich meebrengt voor ITW?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Menno:<\/span> \"Ik vind het geweldig om te zien hoe hecht het team wordt tijdens deze evenementen. Je leert mensen op een heel andere manier kennen dan tijdens een gewone werkdag. Dit zorgt ook voor veel kameraadschap tussen iedereen, ook met de dierbaren van collega's die meedoen. Het maakt het een compleet evenement, waar mensen samen sporten en tegelijkertijd mensen ontmoeten die ze normaal niet spreken, terwijl ze een geweldig goed doel helpen.\"<\/p>\n<p><em><br \/>\nHeb je opvallende momenten met betrekking tot de Ride for the Roses?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Menno:<\/span> Persoonlijk vind ik het fantastisch om te zien dat als groep veel van onze foto's te zien zijn geweest in veel van de promotie die de Ride zelf gebruikt. Om te zien hoe je als team een impact kunt maken en hopelijk anderen kunt inspireren om ook mee te doen als groep\/bedrijf. Het laat echt zien dat elke donatie helpt, of dit nu 5 euro of 100 euro is, alles is welkom in onze gezamenlijke inspanning om kanker de wereld uit te helpen.\"<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\"><br \/>\nOnze 2025 Ride for the Roses campagne is van start gegaan en het team komt langzaam bij elkaar.
